The Young, Black Urban Initiative for Land Development

Our Purpose:

To serve as a catalyst in the advancement of Black future leaders in the land use industry in Northern California.

YBUILD is a membership organization designed to support young Black folks in the land use industry while providing a network for sharing resources, professional development, and investment opportunities. YBUILD was started by a group of seven Sacramento natives who, recognizing the lack of representation in our various companies and organizations, sought to build comradery and support with other young, Black individuals in our industry. Our founding members began to meet regularly, lean on each other for advice, share resources for professional development, and pour into each other as an act of resistance and solidarity.

Our group members represent a variety of land use fields including architecture, real estate development, public and private finance, affordable housing development, urban planning, non-profit housing, commercial real estate brokerage, and more.

We have identified 6 pillars of purpose (below), that will define the YBUILD platform where our community and allies can invest in the young Black leaders who will shape the future of the land use industry.
